The Hastings Arms is a one-bar pub at the seafront end of George Street, in a Grade II listed building whose stuccoed front, with its parapet, goes back to the 18th century.

It is known for its food as much as its beer. The Sunday roasts are popular, and through the week there are special nights, steak, curry and tapas among them, that bring in locals as well as visitors.

There is real ale on the bar, a garden out the back, live music from time to time and a welcome for dogs. It sits right in the thick of things, opposite the Anchor, Ye Olde Pumphouse and the cafés of George Street, and a few steps from the beach.
